Andy represents the Welsh Disabled National Team for many a year
The trophy is called the Oldfield Trophy and it's been going since 2008.
In 2023 the Vale was their 3rd consecutive victory over England.
The qualification is an order of merit points system for placings in our monthly events. At the end of the allotted season the Top 7 will be picked automatically and the remaining 7 get picked by the Captain - This makes a squad of 14 to play England.
The matches use the Ryder Cup formats of Fourballs & Singles over 2 days to find a winner. At the end of the 1st day the captain's put all names in the hat (so to speak) so that each player get different opponents.

The Bob Mullen Recognition Award:
Since the passing of our founder member, it has always been the Chairmans ambition to set up an award that was being named after Bob Mullen (BTC). It is not to be an annual award but an as and when a member of the association gets recognised for doing something that is above and beyond. Our member Andrew Johnson on Saturday 1st November 2025 during his employment as a train driver for LNER Railways went above and beyond his normal duties. He was the driver of the Doncaster to London Kings Cross service when a male on the train attacked by means of stabbing 10 people on the train causing 9 of them to have life threatening injuries. Andrew diverted his train to Huntingdon where the train was not due to stop, having communicated with control about the incident they managed to have Police and Paramedics waiting to board the train and the offender was subsequently arrested and charged with 10 counts of attempted murder. Andrew’s actions are believed to have saved many more people being injured or even worse killed. Alan personally felt that Andrew’s heroic actions fully deserve to be recognised by the association by being the first recipient of the Bob Mullen Recognition Award. The award being a glass decanter with the inscription of the association crest and below the crest “The Bob Mullen Recognition Award” and below that further inscription “Awarded to T42A member Andrew Johnson” then below that “For his heroic actions on 1st November 2025 in saving many lives” It comes in a presentation box.Alan has spoken to Andrew, and he said that he was honoured to receive the award as he served with Bob in the Newcastle.
